Council's Code

CAQC’s Code of Conduct emphasizes its commitment to fair, ethical and professional behaviour.

Consistent with the requirements outlined in Section 11 of the Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act and the Conflicts of Interest Act, CAQC’s Code of Conduct governs the professional and ethical responsibilities of Council members.

The Code is designed to ensure CAQC procedures and decision making are fair and ethical.

It also emphasizes that all CAQC members are expected to consider appropriate standards of behaviour and to conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner. The Code establishes:

  • Who is responsible for administering the Code
  • General rules of conduct
  • Confidentiality requirements
  • Conflict of interest considerations
  • Who speaks publicly on Council’s behalf
  • Direction on gifts
  • Expectations for member conduct
  • Provisions for concurrent employment of Council members
